Before starting my (already 10+ year) journey towards FIRE, I somehow naively thought the main difference between average middle-class people and rich people was that "rich people can buy more expensive luxury stuff". How wrong I was.
Average family background? Tough luck, you are doomed to spend your prime years exchanging your life for money in order to have the next warm meal and a roof over your head. Better keep that LinkedIn profile up-to-date, pretending that you care, until you have saved enough FU money.
Rich parents, from whom you can get a few million dollars? Boom, there you have it ALL! Enough passive income to cover your expenses throughout your life. No need to work a single day, unless you specifically choose to. EVER. You can spend all your time slow-traveling the world, engaging in meaningful activities, dating, or starting a family at a young age.
It is simply mindboggling how big a difference a few million dollars can make in one's life!
This post is not against generational wealth — just a realization about the vast power of money. Maybe this resonates with some of you.
